What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese word, pronounced RAY-key, and written in kanji as 靈 氣. The word "Reiki" means "mysterious atmosphere, miraculous sign." It revolves around the idea that there is an unseen “life force energy” in all of us and that this is what makes us alive.

Separately, these symbols represent the concepts of “rei” (universal) and “ki” (life-force energy, consciousness). Together, they refer to the expansive concept of divine source-consciousness.

As the spiritual force that creates worlds, Reiki is evident everywhere and in everything, including you!

We experience Reiki in every way imaginable (mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally, intuitively, and in every combination of these) because all of these are included in what we understand divine source-consciousness to be.

Reiki is a type of energy healing that originated in Japan. It helps restore balance within the body, mind, and spirit. This means that when you are feeling anxious, stressed out, or ‘on edge’, Reiki provides a sense of calm, meditative, relaxing experience. If you are feeling depressed or down in the ‘dumps’, it gives you a boost of energy and inspiration. It is one of the safest natural methods for healing and there are no contraindications to receiving Reiki.

Reiki boosts the flow of your “life force energy” and heals by flowing through your energy field and charging it with positive energy. It raises the vibration level of the energy field which causes the negative energy (or energy that isn't serving you) to break apart and fall away. In doing so, Reiki clears, straightens, and heals the energy pathways, allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way. This may sound all woo-woo; however, science shows us that our universe is energy.

In the thousands of years since the concept of Reiki was formed, the word has also come to refer to a variety of healing methods that draw from or make use of that source.

Reiki can be a gentle complimentary therapy to other kinds of treatment. On the physical level, it can bring relaxation, decrease pain, and accelerate healing. On a mental and emotional levels, it can reduce anxiety and help us let go of the beliefs and stories that come between us and well-being. On a spiritual level, it can help us tap in to -- and reconnect with -- the energy that creates worlds.
